Day 8: METALLIC Nails

I got my first ever nail stamps in the mail today!! I was so excited to get them! It is the 21 piece set from Bundle Monster. I obviously had to use them as soon as possible, so I combined them with my Day 8 task, metallic nails. Here is my first go at it:

I used Milani - Ms. Milani for the base. Then, I used BM19 and Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Black Heart for the circular design. These don't look too bad in the picture, but I wasn't satisfied with them, so I did another one for today's challenge.

This star and arrow pattern is one of the main reasons I wanted to get some nail stamping material...I saw it on someone else's blog and just loved it. Here I have Pure Ice - Silver Mercedes as the base and Pure Ice - Black Rage used with BM20 for the star and arrow pattern.

Overall, I'm just really excited to do more nail stamping!

Purple Circles

So now that I have my stamping set, I just can't get enough of it. I did these today starting with Essie - Lilacism for my base. Then, I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Pronto Purple with BM19 for the circular pattern!

Day 7: BLACK AND WHITE Nails

These black and white tuxedo nails were inspired by Zooey Deschanel's nails at the Golden Globes this past Sunday! 

I started with a white Sally Hansen from an old holiday collection. After that was dry, I painted on the buttons, bow tie, and vest with a fine tip paint brush using Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Black Heart!

Day 6: PURPLE Nails

These were fun to do. First, I applied two coats of Rimmel London - Ultra Violet, which is really great nail polish. I got this while I was studying abroad in London last summer, and I wish I had gotten more!! I love the wide brush on it, and it could easily be applied with just one coat.

After I let that completely dry, I used some Sally Hansen adhesive guides that came with an old French Manicure Kit. I used two straight edged ones (meant for toes) and create the triangle at the base of my nail. Then I filled the area in with Mattese Elite - Nutty Hat Guy (got this at Ricky's in NYC this past December), and then I peeled off the tape!

New Polish!

I'm excited that I got some new nail polish at Meijer today! They had sooo much nail polish..it was awesome. I can't wait to try them all... Here's a pic of the new polish plus two shirts I got from J.Crew today:

Day 5: BLUE Nails

Blue is far and away my favorite color, so I had a lot of blues to choose from for day #5 of the challenge. Because I have so many, it also made it difficult to choose just one, so even though I did this design before, I chose it for this challenge since I would be able to incorporate 3 different blues. Like I said before, these were inspired by nailside.

I started with 2 coats of Essie - Coat Azure.

Then, I painted on three lines of varying lengths on each nail using Essie - Borrowed & Blue.

Finally, I did that again with Sally Hansen - Blue Icing.

Nerdy Nails

These "nerdy" nails were inspired by my brother..he's a big gamer, lego-er, and he used to have pi memorized out to 120 digits. 

First, I applied two coats of my base polish. Going from thumb to pinky, they are love & beauty - Light Grey, an old white Sally Hansen from a random holiday collection, Essie - Borrowed & Blue, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Black Heart, and Sephora - Money Maker. 

I used a fine tip paint brush to add the designs to the nails. I thought they all turned out pretty well, except for the lego nail, which isn't very distinguishable as a lego. 

Then, I went back over the lego nail with the white again, which created a nice sort of 3D effect. I think it looks a bit more like a lego now. I dunno...

Overall, I'm really happy with how these turned out...hope you like them!

Polish Collection

Here's a picture of my current nail polish collection at home...I have more that is in DC...but this is all I have at home right now! After looking at this picture, I can't believe I only have one bottle of OPI at home! (I don't even like that color...) Anyways, I hope for my whole collection to be reunited soon!!!

Day 4: GREEN Nails

Again, I had to buy some green nail polish for these nails, since I'm not a fan of green either! I started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Green with Envy. Then, I took a q-tip and dipped it in Essie - Peach Daiquiri to create the petals of the flower. I set the rhinestone in place using a dab of topcoat. Finally, I took a fine tip paintbrush and dipped it in Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blizzard Blue, and I painted on the stem and leaves.

New Glitter Polish!

I've gotten a lot of new glittery nail polish recently, so I decided to put them all next to each other over white and over black. Each nail has two coats of the glittery polish.


Here they are over one coat of Sally Hansen - Black Heart:

And here they are over two coats of a white Sally Hansen from an old holiday collection:

Overall, I thought that there wasn't enough glitter coverage from only two coats of both the Sally Hansen and the Wet n Wild. I was surprised at how much I really liked the teal over the black and the white. The Nicole and Essie provided enough glitter in just one coat..they were definitely the best of the five!
